Genuine concern

I would like to take the time to say thank you to Kevin Roden (council member, District 1) and Debbie Shaklee (code enforcement) for attending the Southeast Denton Neighborhood Association meetings.

Since Roden has been elected, he has come to the monthly meetings, had input, taken complaints, given follow-ups to the complaints and joined right in with the group. We would just like to say we really appreciate all he has done and is continuing to do. We have enjoyed that open communication with him.

Thanks also to Debbie who has attended the monthly meetings with input, listened to our complaints and just being able to answer all the code enforcement questions we have had. We understand she has a job to do and is doing what that job requires of her. Thanks to both for showing genuine concern and helping out.

Colette Johnson,

president, Southeast Denton

Neighborhood Association

More backbone needed

Bubba called. Wanted to know who’s defending those million-plus babies aborted each year?

Where’s the group to study public school crimes that Walter E. Williams [DRC, Jan. 15] quoted from the National Center for Education Statistics for 2010: 828,000 nonfatal criminal incidents in schools that included 470,000 thefts, 359,000 violent attacks, of which 91,400 were serious?

That same year, 145,100 public school teachers were attacked, and 276,700 were threatened.

Dr. Williams blames the breakdown of student behavior, over a half-century, on liberals and progressives, the education establishment, pseudo-intellectuals and the courts waging war on American traditions, customs and moral values.

Obama is great on these executive orders (most are illegal as heck) and now he wants background checks on all gun buyers — that’s great and while we are at it, let’s require background checks on all presidential candidates. Seems that would be as important, if not more so.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio (Maricopa County, Arizona) says Obama’s long-form birth certificate is a forgery. Sheriff Arpaio has asked Congress to investigate.

Those father-legged politicians don’t have the nerve to check into that and Obama knows it as he goes about the destruction of the Constitution of the United States.

Who has the backbone to call him to task? Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., came close on Fox’s Bill O’Reilly Factor.

Alice Gore,

Denton
