C | 1 | Paul Stastny I.L.Paul Stastny (shoulder) was on the ice for practice Monday. He didn't take part in any drills, but he did handle the puck. It was the fifth time that Stastny has skated since hurting his shoulder on Oct. 18. Coach Ken Hitchcock hopes to have him on the ice as a full participant by the end of the week. Oct 27 |
| 2 | David Backes SidelinedDavid Backes has been diagnosed with a concussion. He is out indefinitely after he was injured in Tuesday's game versus Dallas. Backes' head hit the ice after a hit by Stars defenseman Trevor Daley. Oct 30 |
| 3 | Patrik Berglund ActivePatrik Berglund (upper body) is expected to be back in the Blues' lineup Thursday night. He didn't play Saturday because of an upper-body injury. Berglund will rejoin center David Backes and T.J. Oshie in the team's top-six group against Los Angeles. Oct 16 |
| 4 | Jori Lehtera ActiveJori Lehtera notched a goal and two assists in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over Dallas. He picked up primary assists on two of Vladimir Tarasenko's three goals in the contest. Tarasenko had the primary helper on Lehtera's second marker of the year. The duo has been separated for moments in the early going of the season, but they've been together for the most part since the preseason. Oct 29 |
| 5 | Maxim Lapierre ActiveMaxim Lapierre scored his first goal of the postseason in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to Chicago. He tied the game at 2-2 with just four seconds left in the second period. Lapierre has two points, eight hits and eight blocks in four contests during the Blues' opening round series. Apr 24 |
LW | 1 | Alexander Steen ActiveAlexander Steen (illness) was OK to play Thursday. He played with fellow Swedes Patrik Berglund and Joakim Lindstrom, but his assist in the match came on a power-play goal by Kevin Shattenkirk. Steen also posted four shots and a minus-2 rating in 21:01 of ice time. There's a flu bug circulating through the Blues' locker room, but everyone played through it in a 4-1 loss to Vancouver. Oct 24 |
| 2 | Jaden Schwartz ActiveThe Blues have shuffled their forward lines for Saturday night's grudge match against the Blackhawks. Jaden Schwartz will start on a line with David Backes and T.J. Oshie, while Alexander Steen will skate alongside Jori Lehtera and Vladimir Tarasenko. Essentially, Schwartz and Steen will be flip flopped. The Blues other two lines will be as follows: Dmitrij Jaskin-Patrik Berglund-Joakim Lindstrom and Steve Ott-Maxim Lapierre-Ryan Reaves. Schwartz is St.Louis' leading scorer with four goals and should continue to thrive in a top-six position all season long. The loser in this alignment, however, is Steve Ott, who got a chance to play in the top six earlier this week. Oct 25 |
| 3 | Joakim Lindstrom ActiveLook for Joakim Lindstrom to get the first chance to play with Paul Stastny and Alexander Steen. He has a history with coach Ken Hitchcock in Columbus who believes he might mesh well with the newly-acquired Stastny and last season's breakout player, Steen. Needless to say, if Lindstrom can keep this gig, he will be draft worthy in most hockey pools. Sep 27 |
| 4 | Magnus Paajarvi ActiveMagnus Paajarvi made his season debut Sunday after he was a healthy scratch in the team's previous four games. He got into the lineup because of an injury to Paul Stastny. Paajarvi posted one shot in 11:18 of ice time, while playing alongside Patrik Berglund and Joakim Lindstrom. Oct 20 |
| 5 | Steve Ott ActiveSteve Ott is projected to play with David Backes and T.J. Oshie on Thursday night. He's getting a promotion from the fourth line with Paul Stastny injured. "It's what I'm accustomed to," Ott said. "It's something I relish, being a player that can be in situations and give a coach a different look, being able to help out wherever I can." He has no points and 11 hits in five games. Oct 22 |
RW | 1 | T.J. Oshie SidelinedT.J. Oshie sustained a concussion in Tuesday's overtime win over Dallas. "Oshie has something else going, plus the concussion," coach Ken Hitchcock said Thursday. "We're not sure whether it's the bacterial (infection)." Oshie was apparently concussed after he was shoved into the goal post. He is out indefinitely. Oct 30 |
| 2 | Vladimir Tarasenko ActiveVladimir Tarasenko has been shooting more frequently early into the 2014-15 campaign. He has upped his shots per game from 2.1 to 4.5 and he leads the Blues with a total of 36. However, he said that shooting more isn't something he planned to do. "I never think like this," Tarasenko said. "I always look around for somebody else in a better position to make a play. I don't care about my shots. If somebody else is open, I will make the pass." Coach Ken Hitchcock wants to see Tarasenko use his shot with greater regularity. The 22-year-old forward has four goals and nine points in eight contests. Oct 30 |
| 3 | Chris Porter ActiveChris Porter, who was a healthy scratch for the Blues' season opener on Thursday, will draw back into the team's lineup for Saturday night's contest. Maxim Lapierre will sit in the pressbox to accommodate Porter. As neither of these fourth-liners have any fantasy value, the switch in the lineup will have no hockey pool impact. Oct 11 |
| 4 | Dmitrij Jaskin ActiveDmitrij Jaskin scored his first goal of the season in the Blues’ 3-2 win over the Blackhawks on Saturday night. He scored what’s considered the game-winner in his first game of the season. The talented Russian, a 2011 second-round pick, played 11:46. Jaskin had three points in four games in the AHL before being recalled. Jaden Schwartz and Ryan Reaves got the other goals. Alex Pietrangelo chipped in with two helpers. Oct 25 |
| 5 | Ryan Reaves ActiveRyan Reaves (illness) will be able to play on Tuesday. Reaves didn't end up missing any playing time due to the disease. He has a goal in seven games this season. Oct 28 |
D | 1 | Alex Pietrangelo ActiveThe St. Louis Blues won an impressive game over the Chicago Blackhawks. The Blues are off to a slow start with a 3-3-2 record this season. "We had to win one game to get things going back in the right direction," said Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, who had two assists. "There's nothing better than playing against an opponent like this, division rival, big game for us." Oct 26 |
| 2 | Kevin Shattenkirk ActiveKevin Shattenkirk scored his first goal of the season on Thursday night, but it was the only marker St. Louis could muster in a 4-1 loss to Vancouver. Shattenkirk now has six points in as many games this season to go along with four penalty minutes and a plus-one rating. the 25-year-old exceeded 23 minutes of ice time in the loss. Oct 23 |
| 3 | Jay Bouwmeester ActiveJay Bouwmeester was back with Alex Pietrangelo on Tuesday at practice. The duo didn't start the season together, but they were reunited during Sunday's 3-0 loss to Anaheim. "Looking at the opponents coming up, we're going to need one pair that carries the yeoman's work five on five, and they're the pair that does it, so we're going to use them," said said coach Ken Hitchcock referring to match-ups against Vancouver and Chicago. Oct 22 |
| 4 | Carl Gunnarsson ActiveCarl Gunnarsson's playing time might be limited in his Blues debut on Tuesday. Gunnarsson hasn't played since April 10 due to a hip injury. Blues coach Ken Hitchcock plans to monitor his minutes and probably won't use Gunnarsson to help kill penalties. Gunnarsson will start the game on the third defensive pairing with Barret Jackman. Oct 28 |
| 5 | Barret Jackman ActiveBarret Jackman has undergone wrist/elbow surgery. Jackman has 15 points and averaged 17:56 minutes per contest in 79 games in 2013-14. He should still be fine for training camp. Jun 4 |
| 6 | Jordan Leopold ActiveJordan Leopold is likely to return to the lineup on Thursday. Leopold spent Sunday's game in the press box. Look for him to play alongside Barret Jackman. Oct 21 |
| 7 | Ian Cole ActiveIan Cole will be looking to prove that he can be a regular in the Blues' top-six defense group this season. St. Louis already has firm pairings among their top four, but he has a shot at earning a spot. "This is a real opportunity for Ian," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "He's paid his dues. He spent time in the minors. He's spent time as the seventh defenseman. He's matured as a person and as a player. It's his time." Cole will have to wrestle the sixth position from Jordan Leopold and Chris Butler at training camp. He played 46 games last season, where he recorded 11 points, 68 blocks and a plus-15 rating.
"There’s an open spot, a regular shift. There’s everything there waiting for him, just step up and grab it." Sep 1 |
G | 1 | Brian Elliott ActiveBrian Elliott earned his second straight win Tuesday after he kicked out 25 of 28 shots in a 4-3 win over the Stars. With a 3-2-1 record to go along with a 1.98 GAA and a .917 save percentage, Elliott has delivered for his fantasy owners in spite of the question marks surrounding his ability prior to the season. Look for him to continue garnering the larger portion of a timeshare with Jake Allen. Oct 29 |
| 2 | Jake Allen ActiveJake Allen will be in goal for the Blues on Thursday night. Coach Ken Hitchcock was asked about the status of David Backes for Thursday's match against Anaheim and he said: "There is a chance the lineup won't change one bit, except Jake Allen is the goalie." Allen owns a 1-1-0 record to go with a .915 save percentage and a 2.02 goals-against average. Oct 29 |
