The end of the Wright Amendment caused a number of people to sing and shout, but none of them were quite as cute as KIPP DFW's Destiny Elementary students.

During the festivities at Love Field on October 13, Virgin America founder Sir Richard Branson donated $25,000 in cash and tickets to the young students. The funds and flights will be used by the charter school's first-ever music program.

The donation is just the start of Virgin America's celebration of its new flights out of Dallas. After a well-publicized battle for two open gates at Love Field, Virgin has officially kicked off its daily, nonstop flights to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington D.C.

By April, Virgin will expand routes to Chicago and bring its total number of daily flights out of Love Field to 18.

Not to be outdone, Southwest Airlines has also added a bevy of new flights. Beginning October 13, Southwest has daily nonstop service to Baltimore/Washington, Denver, Las Vegas, Orlando and Chicago Midway. In November, the airline will add fights to 10 more cities, including Atlanta, New York, Nashville and San Diego.
