Resolve a Citation

PAY A CITATION 
You have 30 calendar days from citation issue date to pay the fine. If a citation is not paid within 30 days, a delinquent fee is added. If a citation is not paid in full within 90 calendar days, an additional 30 percent collection fee is added.

Parking citation may be paid several ways:

Mail
Make payable to the City of Houston and write the citation number on the check or money order. Place citation and payment in the envelope. Please do not mail cash.

Payments are considered late if postmarked after 30 days of issue date. If payment is sent late, the higher fine is due. Please click here for the violation code fine schedule.

  • In person
    You may pay your fine in person at any of the following locations:
    • Municipal Courts / 1400 Lubbock / Houston, TX 77002 ... MON – SAT 7 a.m. – 10 p.m

    • Parking Management / 2020 McKinney / Houston, TX 77003 ... 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Western Union
    • Visit the nearest Western Union location or call 1.800.325.6000.


CONTEST A CITATION

You have 30 days from the date the citation was issued to contest your citation. You may contest your citation online if it is within seven (7) days from citation issuance. NOTE: If the citation prefix is P or V, you have 7 days after the citation is entered in the system to contest online or 30 days total to contest in person.

An online hearing is an official hearing and the hearing results are binding. All testimony and evidence is required to be submitted at the time the hearing is entered. There will not be another opportunity to submit further evidence.

You may contest in person at the Parking Adjudication Office, 1400 Lubbock , Mon. – Fri., between 8:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. or Saturday, 8:00 am to 5 p.m. Appointments aren't necessary, all hearings are held on a first-come, first-served basis.

How to File an Appeal
If dissatisfied with the hearing officer's decision, you can appeal to the Municipal Court by filing a petition no later than the 30th day after the filing of the hearing officer's decision.

The petition must be filed with the Parking Management Cashier at the Municipal Court, 1400 Lubbock. You must post a cash bond for each the parking citation(s), and an administrative fee for each the first parking citation appealed. If the appeal is successful, these fees are refunded.
