Dozens of young supporters of the American Red Cross North Texas region swarmed the Hotel ZaZa pool for the Young Professionals Auxiliary kickoff event. And they had a lot to toast: The Dallas-area chapter has the largest and most active YPA in the nation.

Founded only in 2012, more than 300 members joined YPA in the first year alone.

Guests — including Rachel Conover, Kate Powers, Ellen Flowers, Paige Nobles, Ben de Tar Wilhite and Liz Sandlin — enjoyed the requisite sips and snacks and had the opportunity to sign up for the YPA at a reduced rate ($65 versus the regular $75 dues). All membership proceeds go directly to the American Red Cross to support its mission in preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of disaster.

“If our kickoff at Hotel Zaza is any indication of the year to come for the YPA, this year is going to be the best one yet,” said Blair Butler, YPA co-president. “Each year our presence in DFW grows, which allows our volunteer efforts to make more of an impact.”

The YPA comprises professional men and women, ages 21-30, who understand the power of networking and use it to change the lives of those who face daily emergencies in our communities. YPA’s dedicated young adults affect lives — others and their own — by giving their time and talents to the American Red Cross.

“What can you expect from YPA this year? Great parties, lots of volunteer projects, community education and so much more! We can’t wait,” Butler said.
