What’s silver, has four wheels and could possibly damage your bank account? The Silver Soul, a new Dallas-based mobile jewelry boutique preparing to roll up to a location near you.

The woman behind the wheel is Molly Sharp, who got her start by studying metalsmithing in high school. When her hobby turned into a passion, the young designer went on to train in lapidary design in Taos, New Mexico; goldsmithing in Portland, Oregon; and advanced metalsmithing in Nacogdoches.

Calling her style bohemian chic with a touch of Texas, Sharp says the idea for a mobile boutique first came to her in 2011, when she was looking for a brick-and-mortar storefront. She wanted her store to double as a studio, where customers could walk in and be a part of the design process — from concept to stone.

When she couldn’t find a satisfactory space, she decided to buy a cool trailer and convert it into a traveling workspace and store. The Silver Soul is housed inside a refurbished 1966 Safari trailer.

“My husband is a musician, and I wanted to be able to take our family on the road with him while working,” Sharp says. “I have done trunk shows in the past in Dallas, and the idea of ‘popping up’ at boutiques, festivals and events seemed like so much fun.”

Sharp designs well-crafted pieces for both men and women, including rings, pendants, earrings and lariat-style neckwear featuring semi-precious stones set in silver. Prices range from $65-$500.

The Silver Soul plans to host events and partner with boutiques across the U.S. for trunk shows. Places on the itinerary so far include Nashville, California and Colorado, and all customers in the database receive emails when it’s coming to their zip codes. The collection is also available for purchase online.

See the goods for yourself on Thursday, October 23, 6:30-9:30 pm, at Weld. Blues musician Leon Bridges is providing live entertainment while partygoers enjoy light bites and cocktails by Deep Eddy Vodka and Honest Tea. Sharp is also raffling off one piece of jewelry valued at more than $200, with proceeds benefiting diabetes research, a condition from which her brother has suffered for years.

“Dallas is our home base and always will be,” Sharp says. “This big city is ever-changing and such a great fit for my new business.

“I want to use the Silver Soul to inspire people to get out of the house more, to go on adventures and explore how fun Dallas is becoming!”
