GOP candidate with fetish-related felony record warns against ‘homosexual agenda’
A Michigan Republican with a criminal record for breaking into cars and masturbating is urging residents to move out of state to avoid the “homosexual agenda.”
Jordan Haskins briefly suspended his campaign for an open state house seat after his criminal convictions were revealed.
The 24-year-old Republican, who served prison terms in two states and is currently on parole, strongly criticized in a Facebook post proposed protections for LGBT people under Michigan’s civil rights laws, reported Right Wing Watch.
“If the state wants to trample religious freedom, we go somewhere else where our values are welcome,” Haskins posted Oct. 8. “Michigan loses tax money, economic performance, jobs, etc. if they choose to be entrenched with the homosexual agenda, it’s time for conservative christians (sic) to vote with their feet and their dollars.”
Haskins accumulated criminal records in Michigan and North Carolina, where he broke into vehicles at least four times between April 2010 and January 2011, disconnected ignition wires, and started the engine.
As the snapped wires threw off sparks, Haskins would pleasure himself in a sexualized ritual he has described as “cranking.”
“I was just a lonely, angry kid at the time,” he previously said. “If anything, I could be put on ‘World’s Dumbest Criminals.’”
In another Facebook post, Haskins assured voters he “helped lead the effort to fend off the homosexual movement here in Saginaw along with some inner city pastors. These are all things that God has allowed me to add to my resume/ repotiore (sic) of my life experiences.”
Among those life experiences are jail, prison, and probation sentences in North Carolina from 2006 through 2009 for breaking and entering, larceny, and trespassing.
Those offenses were apparently before he began indulging in his fetish, which Haskins said he discovered online.
“God has totally turned me around from the stubborn teenage/ young person that I used to be,” Haskins said in a Facebook post. “I can still be hardheaded at times, but that is because I don’t want to see people in Saginaw hurting and suffering anymore. I still believe that we can be a part of the Michigan comeback and I believe that as long as there are those that love God here, we can win souls and see God move in this city and state.”
He also lashed out at critics who have called him an “embarrassment,” begged him not to run, and disassociated themselves from him to save their own reputations.
“I was told that I am, ‘selfish and immature’ for continuing my campaign and running for office,” Haskins said. “Yet, I challenge them to answer me this one question: Are you here where I am at, fighting for these people?”
“My answer, no,” he added. “They are not here. When it came to the homosexual lobby pushing their happy feel good, anti-discrimination BS, it was I and a handful of pastors here in the inner city that defeated that ordinance.”
He demanded his critics earn his respect by joining his fight against LGBT rights.
