Bud Gillett
Bud is the most veteran reporter at CBS 11 News with 42 years in major market television news, the last 36 years working the streets of Dallas/Fort Worth.
Bud has filed stories from four continents on wars, earthquakes, and other major events directly affecting North Texans. He has also reported on historic events closer to home, including the Fort Worth tornado, numerous Texas hurricanes, the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster, the Branch Davidian standoff near Waco, and a toddler falling into an uncapped well in Midland. Prior to moving to Dallas/Fort Worth, he was a reporter, newscast producer, and assignments editor for stations in Detroit, St. Louis, and Indianapolis.
Bud has won numerous statewide reporting awards from the Texas Associated Press, UPI, and the prestigious Headliner’s Club, in addition to being a Dallas Press Club “Katie” nominee. His award-winning work runs the gamut, from investigative excellence to “best feature” reporter. He has also taken home broadcast news awards while at WXYZ-TV in Detroit and WLWI-TV (now WTHR) in Indianapolis.
He is a member of the Dallas Press Club, the Indiana University Alumni Association, and the Descendants of the Founders of Ancient Windsor (Connecticut).
