Postgame
Well, the baseball world wanted to know how the Royals would respond after their eight-game playoff winning streak was snapped. The answer is very well, thank you.
Gregor Blanco stunned the home crowd with a leadoff homer but the Giants would scratch out just one more run while KC got back to what got them here - pitching, defense, timely hitting and speed, as evidenced by Lorenzo Cains’ sprint home in the sixth inning.
Now all the talk of the Royals rolling over proves to be just that as Ned Yost and KC reassert themselves, evening the series at a game apiece just before a happy flight to San Francisco.
For my colleague Hunter, well, the result is something of a baseball tragedy.
He’ll recover, while my pick of Giants in six is alive and well.
We’ll take a day off on Thursday as the teams head west to San Francisco, and return on Friday at 730EST / 1230 UK for live coverage of Game 3. Until then, good morning, good afternoon and goodnight.

Just a strikeout and the ball game is over! KC have their first World Series win in 29 years!
