For the fifth annual VNA Celebrity Chef Luncheon, co-chairs Katie Johnson and Francie Mancillas, along with honorary chair Caroline Rose Hunt, enticed Uchi chef-owner Tyson Cole to bring his Japanese artistry to Dallas for the event benefiting Meals on Wheels.

The afternoon began with a wine cork pull followed by a meet-and-greet with Cole, who, after operating two successful restaurants in Austin and one in Houston, will open Uchi Dallas in winter 2015.

Once Cole was finished dazzling the crowd with stories about his culinary journey, the afternoon came to a close with a raffle. Prizes included a $5,000 pre-paid credit card, a three-night escape for two at Lake Austin Spa, a couple’s shopping spree at Highland Park Village, two Southwest Airlines ticket vouchers and more.

Perhaps most impressive, Cole offered up a 10-course tasting menu for six at the new Uchi Dallas, as well as a limited-edition woodblock print that reads “To Walk Where Footsteps Have No Sound” by artist Daryl Howard.

Established in 1934, VNA is a nonprofit hat helps older adults live with dignity and independence at home. VNA offers Meals on Wheels in Dallas County, as well as VNA hospice and private care in Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Grayson, Henderson, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro, Rockwall, Tarrant and Van Zandt counties.
