DIA DE LOS MUERTOS
Saturday/November 1...4 to 8 pm...FREE FOR ALL AGES
This bilingual family event is open to the public and includes activities for all ages.  A community Ofrenda (alter) will be constructed and everyone is invited to add something in memory of a lost loved one - a favorite candy bar, a drink, a copy of a photograph, a flower, the title of a song, a scented note…

This year we are pleased to include an Exhibit by GraveSave; their mission is the preservation of music history. They achieve this through the care, restoration and protection of the final resting places of musicians throughout the United States. GraveSave provides awareness programs, donations and volunteer landscaping services to small community churches and cemeteries, inspired by the words of Lemon Jefferson who asked “Lord It’s One Kind Favor I’ll Ask of You – See That My Grave is Kept Clean."

ACTIVITIES: 4 – 6:00 pm
Workshops and art stations for Papel Picado (paper cutting), Paper Flower Making, Calaveras (skull) Drawing & Decorating, Face-painting, and a special workshop in Tamale Making 101: Oaxacan Style with Gracey Tune.

ENTERTAINMENT & SHARING OF THE FEAST: 5:30 – 8 pm pm
Performances by Mariachi Estrella Tejana from J. P. Elder Middle School under the direction of Dr. William Gradante, Ballet Folklorico Fort Worth under the direction of Carmen Garcia, and Music by GraveSave. Sharing of traditional foods. Everyone is encouraged to bring the favorite dish of a departed loved one to add to the feast.
