Restaurateur and TV personality Guy Fieri was in town on October 19, to officiate at a tailgate event at the Dallas Cowboys game sponsored by Carnival Cruise Lines. The series of pre-game activities included a burger battle and a concert by Rascal Flatts.

Fieri has a deal with Carnival, who've installed his namesake Guy's Burger Joint on some of their ships. Guy's Burger Joint has a roadside theme, with burgers, make-your-own toppings bar and hand-cut fries.

For the Carnival ships based in Texas, Fieri created a burger called Big Tex, topped with cheese, donkey sauce, pickles, green chili salsa, lettuce, tomato and tortilla strips.

The afternoon event at AT&T Stadium in Arlington began with photo opps and clowning around by Fieri, Rascal Flatts and Carnival Cruise Lines senior VP Mark Tamis. Fieri presided over the burger battle — a cuisine chosen, he said, because burgers are a universal tailgate food in stadium parking lots around the country.

Katy Grantges of Cleburne won the battle, and Rascal Flatts closed out the party with a performance.
