Diaper drive supports non-profit organization after supplies were stolen

The College of Public Affairs and Community Services is spearheading the collection for Captain Hope's Kids, which distributes 16,000 diapers a week to the needy in North Texas. Donations can be dropped off at Chilton Hall.

Highland Street to close for repaving

Highland Street and portions of the sidewalk along Highland Street will be closed between Avenue C and Welch Street starting Oct. 20 through the coming months for a city of Denton repaving project.

Mayhill-State School road to be closed at I-35E

All lanes of Mayhill/State School Road between the north- and southbound I-35E frontage roads will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Oct.17-27. During the closure, crews will perform work related to the widening of the I-35E bridge over Mayhill/State School Road.

Vern Kagarice, professor of trombone

He had conducted the award-winning UNT Trombone Choir since 1983.

John Haynie, Professor Emeritus of music

He taught trumpet at UNT for 40 years. He was known for his solos, and he taught some of the college's most successful music graduates.
