Texas has been ranked the best state for its business climate. But Florida didn't do too shabbily - ranking in the Top 5 among the 50 U.S states, in a recent survey.

New York-based economic development research firm Development Counsellors International conducts the survey as part of its "Winning Strategies in Economic Development Marketing" report. This year it surveyed 356 U.S. corporate executives on economic trends, such as manufacturing, business incentives and workforce quality/availability, to arrive at its rankings.

Nearly 50 percent of those surveyed named the Lone Star state as having one of the most favorable business climates in the nation. This came as no surprise to DCI, as Texas has snared the top spot in its best business climate rankings since 1999.

The survey also found that nearly 44 percent of those surveyed indicated their firm would make a location decision - wether a move, expansion or consolidation - within the next 24 months.
