Lewisville police target drivers who illegally pass school buses

Lewisville police urge drivers to obey state law by not passing any school bus that is stopped and operating a visual signal — either flashing red lights or a stop sign.

The Lewisville Police Department will target drivers illegally passing school buses this week, particularly at bus drop-off and pick-up areas.

It’s National School Bus Safety Week, and state troopers in many areas across Texas will be riding on or following school buses to catch motorists who don’t heed the law.

Lewisville police urge drivers to obey state law by not passing any school bus that is stopped and operating a visual signal — either flashing red lights or a stop sign.

Drivers who violate the law could face fines of up to $1,250.
