U.S. production of uranium concentrate in the second quarter 2014 was 1,095,011 pounds U3O8, down 12% from the previous quarter and down 21% from the second quarter 2013. With the addition of a new production facility during the second quarter 2014, U.S. uranium was produced at eight U.S. uranium facilities.

New during this quarter, Uranerz Energy's Nichols Ranch ISR Project in Wyoming started production. Uranerz Energy has a tolling agreement1 with Cameco Resources. Uranium is first processed at the Nichols Ranch plant and then transported to the Smith Ranch-Highland Operation plant for final processing into Uranerz's uranium concentrate. With the addition of Nichols Ranch Wyoming has four plants in production.

For the first half of 2014, U.S. uranium concentrate production totaled 2,337,190 pounds U3O8. This amount is 8% lower than the 2,541,263 pounds produced during the first half of 2013.

1Tolling arrangement: Contract arrangement under which a raw material or intermediate product stream from one company is delivered to the production facility of another company in exchange for the equivalent volume of finished products and payment of a processing fee.
