Home cooks invited to Food Network casting call on Saturday

The winner of the first season of 'America's Best Cook' was Stephanie Goldfarb, who calls herself a 'recovering vegetarian.' D-FW cooks who think they have the right skillz to be on a Food Network cooking show can attend an open call on Saturday. (Food Network)

If you consider yourself an amazing home cook, you’re wanted at an open call at the Dallas Farmers Market on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 1 to 6 p.m. The Food Network is casting for an unnamed show that will film in early December and air in spring 2015.

The show was formerly called America’s Best Cook, but a rep says the name might change. That show had a handful of famous chefs as mentors to the home cooks, but the chefs will not be present at the open call, the rep confirmed.

You’re in? Bring “a savory dish that highlights your cooking abilities,” according to a flier for this weekend’s event. Also bring a photo of the dish and a photo of yourself.

Anyone who graduated from culinary school or has worked in a professional kitchen isn’t eligible. The company will also host casting calls in Chicago, San Francisco, New York and Nashville.

Oct. 18, 1 to 6 p.m., Dallas Farmers Market, 1010 S. Pearl Expressway, Dallas. homecookscasting.com.
