A specialty glass, windows and doors company that has called Logan Street in Louisville home for decades will move to a larger location early next year.

Koch Corp. has announced it will lease a vacant warehousing facility at 1901 S. Seventh St.

Steve Lannert, a co-managing member and industrial real estate specialist for Cassidy Turley Harry K. Moore in Louisville, said SCK1 LLC closed on the acquisition of about two acres of property from First Gethsemane Baptist Church on Oct. 15 for $425,000 and will lease it back to Koch.

Benjamin Feinn, CEO of Koch Corp., declined to disclose the lease agreement for the property but said it will give the company about 37,000 square feet of manufacturing space and another 11,000 square feet of office space. That's a significant upgrade from its current location at 1131 Logan St., which has about 17,000 square feet of combined manufacturing and office space, Feinn said.

The company intends to fully relocate by spring, but he said some repairs are needed to the roof and cosmetic work needed in cleaning up the space and applying new paint.

He did not have an estimate on the repairs but said "it shouldn't be much." He said Koch would sell or lease the Logan Street location once it moves.

Charles Koch founded Koch Corp. in 1936, focusing on specialty glass and glazing, according to the company's website. As the industry evolved, Koch changed along with it. In the 1950s, Koch Corp. became a nationwide organization as it focused on engineering and installing commercial windows and curtain walls, which are the outer covering of a building often made of glass.
