Denton City Council chambers were standing-room-only May 20 when Denton City Secretary Jennifer Walters (left) administered the oath of office to Denton's new Mayor, Chris Watts. The audience gave Mayor Watts an extended standing ovation, complete with cheers, at completion of his oath.
Your months of hard work came to fruition Tuesday night when Chris Watts was sworn in as Mayor of Denton. It's a fresh, new day for all citizens!

- Dear Mayor Watts: I was extremely disappointed in your weak leadersh...ip tonight. Whatever leverage our town had against the out-of-town interests that are currently taking advantage of us, you probably just let slip through your fingers. I feel like you had a real chance as a leader to make a stand for local control, and you blew it. See More
Congratulations, Frack-Free Denton, on your highly successful petition drive! I fully support your right under the City Charter to pursue this path to change.
