‘Prince of YouTube’ Todrick Hall, from Arlington, nabs his own show on MTV

Todrick Hall was made for television, and now he gets another go-round on the big screen. The dancer and actor from Arlington who competed on American Idol in 2010 will star in his own MTV show called Todrick.

Its eight episodes, 30 minutes each, will air sometime in 2015.

Hall seemed made for showbiz since Idol. He didn’t win that singing competition but went on to win the Internet, scoring tens of thousands of Facebook friends and nearly 150 million views on YouTube.

He wore his nickname “Toddy Rockstar” well as he made a plea to be on Glee three years ago (but wasn’t hired). He went on to do a Beyonce mash-up flash mob inside a Target (11 million views) and make video parodies of popular stories (Disney Dudez — 10 million views; Mean Gurlz — 7 million views; Beauty and the Beat — 5 million views). He also created Virgin America’s safety video and song-bombed a Starbucks with fellow D-FW singers Pentatonix.

His latest is a video set to the Fresh Prince theme song where he declares himself “the prince of a land called YouTube.”

His new show Todrick will peek inside his crazy life living with singers, dancers and choreographers trying to make it big. Many of the artists live together in a home with Hall; Todrick will go up close with the oddities and absurdities spawned there.

One of the executive producers on the show is Scooter Braun, who reps Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, among others.

Todrick is one of two shows that got the green light from MTV today. The other is Broke A$$ Game Show, a comedy where its hosts “lure unsuspecting contestants to push their personal limits for cash.”
