Staff Kansas City Business Journal

Johnson & Jonson has announced it will begin testing a vaccine in January to address the Ebola virus, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Johnson & Johnson has partnered with Denmark-based Bavarian Nordic to develop the vaccine, which the companies hope will be available as soon as May. The vaccine, which involves two shots, will be tested on up to 600 volunteers in Europe and Africa. The vaccine has already been tested in animals.

To date, more than 4,500 people have died from Ebola and approximately 9,200 people have been infected with the virus.
