Wake Forest to end traditional MBA program

Wake Forest University will no longer offer admissions to its traditional daytime MBA program.

The Wake Forest School of Business will instead focus on its flexible MBA for professionals, according to a news release. The university will continue to offer the programs in the evenings in Winston-Salem and evenings and Saturdays in Charlotte.

According to the release, "while Wake Forest is not the first business school to focus on pre-experience and flexibly scheduled graduate education, it is the most prominent."

University officials said they've seen double- and triple-digit growth in such programs during the past five years.

"As Wake Forest prepares tomorrow's business leaders for an ever-changing global economy, we must be nimble and innovative in how we educate our students today," Charles Iacovou, Wake Forest's business dean, said in the release. "Business models are evolving more rapidly than ever and business education must innovate.

Iacovou began his role in July, taking over for Steve Reinemund, who stepped down to become executive in residence at the school.
