Early-stage medical device company iTraumaCare is fine-tuning its executive leadership in anticipation of new growth opportunities. The Canadian-based company, which has its commercialization headquarters in San Antonio, has named Joseph Brennan as its new president and CEO.
Brennan, who has served in management positions with Genzyme Corp. and Kinetic Concepts Inc., will play a critical role in iTraumaCare's evolution, as the company seeks to gain widespread adoption of its core product, the iTClamp Hemorrhage Control System, designed to quickly control severe bleeding in patients who have sustained a traumatic injury.
While at Genzyme, Brennan grew the biosurgical division's commercial sales from $10 million to more than $100 million.
Brennan, who also helped grow San Antonio-based KCI's skin substitute and wound-care products, said iTraumaCare has "significant future growth potential."
Phil Faris, who has served as executive chairman and CEO of iTraumaCare will continue to work with the company, consulting on management and growth strategies.
Last week, I reported that iTraumaCare had cleared another critical regulatory hurdle for the ITClamp.
