Hannaford is continuing to expand its curbside pick-up service, this time at its supermarket in Clifton Park, New York, as the chain competes with Price Chopper and ShopRite to improve customer convenience.

Hannaford to Go enables customers to order online, pull up to the store and have their groceries brought to the car by a store employee.

There is no charge for the first order. Additional orders cost $5 if the bill is less than $125. The fee is waived if the bill is more than $125.

Equipment and signs are being installed in the parking lot at the Hannaford in Clifton Park. The service is scheduled to begin Nov. 7.

Hannaford already offers the service at its stores in Colonie, Guilderland, Niskayuna and Saratoga Springs.

Price Chopper and ShopRite have a similar pick-up service in the area, though they also offer home deliveries.

Hannaford, based in Scarborough, Maine, doesn't make home deliveries.

"We absolutely are seeing this as a service that customers like and we are looking for opportunities to roll it out to select other locations," said Eric Blom, a company spokesman. "At this point we have them in Maine, New Hampshire and New York but we're looking across our marketplace by state."

Hannaford has 185 stores, including in Vermont and Massachusetts.
