SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Albany will house New York's first energy management operations center, to be run by the New York Power Authority.
NYPA will use the center to give live energy use information to state government facilities to help drive down utility costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
The power authority currently provides energy management reporting to more than 3,000 public facilities.
The partnership between NYPA and SUNY Polytechnic was announced Tuesday. SUNY Polytechnic, formerly known as the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, also has a business incubator for energy companies and is building a zero energy nanotechnology building. The research complex and school works with more than 300 companies and organizations on next generation technology development.
