Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson said a struggle for his pistol inside his police SUV led to initial shots fired on Michael Brown, a source close to the investigation told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The newspaper's source said that Wilson told investigators that Brown pressed the barrel of Wilson's gun to the officer's hip, during which time Wilson tried to prevent Brown from getting at the trigger. When Wilson thought he had control, he fired, though Brown's hand was blocking the mechanism.
Wilson got two shots off, hitting Brown in the hand, and Brown ran. According to the source, Wilson shot Brown again when Brown turned back and charged at Wilson.
Other witnesses have claimed Wilson grabbed Brown and drug him in the SUV's window, while others say Brown did not move back toward Wilson after breaking free. You can read more detail into the accounts in the Post-Dispatch's article here.
