Two Kansas senators from Wichita, Republican Michael O'Donnell and Democrat Oletha Faust-Goudeau, are working across the aisle on a proposal to eliminate the sales tax in Kansas on food for preparation at home.

The Wichita Eagle reports that if the plan were approved by the Kansas Legislature, the food sales-tax elimination would also apply to local sales taxes, such as the one Wichita residents are considering in a November referendum.
