Atossa Genetics Inc., the Seattle maker of a breast health test that's been off the U.S. market since October 2013, has gotten some good news in Europe.
The company said "it has received certification to Annex II of the European Medical Device Directive (MDD) from its European Notified Body, DQS Medizinprodukte GmbH, which allows Atossa to place the 'CE' Mark on the ForeCyte Breast Aspirator for distribution in the European Union and its member states."
"This approval marks an essential pivot point for Atossa as we pursue commercialization of the ForeCyte Breast Aspirator into various European markets," said Steven Quay, chairman, CEO and president of Atossa, in a statement.
Shares in Atossa Genetics (NASDAQ: ATOS) rose more than 15 percent in early Wednesday trading, rising 17 cents to $1.27.
Here in the U.S., Atossa got some bad news last month, when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said that the Seattle company's ForeCyte Breast Aspirator is not cleared for marketing in the U.S.
