Report: State Attorney doesn't file charges against Pouncey brothers

The Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney has decided Dolphins offensive lineman Mike Pouncey and Steelers offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey will not be charged in connection with an altercation at their birthday party inside Cameo Nightclub this summer, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Miami Beach police investigated claims made by a South Florida man that alleges the brothers assaulted him during the party. Miami Beach police turned over all the information it gathered during the investigation to the state attorney's office, which decided there wasn't enough evidence to file charges.

"This confirms that the previous claim that the brothers were involved was false and fabricated by individuals seeking notoriety and monetary gain," said Jeff Ostrow, personal counsel to the Pounceys.

The Pounceys are still facing a civil lawsuit from the alleged victims.

"He’s got to be ready to step up and go," Marrone said of Urbik. "If he gets the call on Sunday I’m sure he’ll be ready to go."

The Bills have surrendered 13 sacks in their last three games, and the line faces a tough test against the Jets in Week 8.

Jets LB Quinton Coples expects bigger role in Week 8

(5:55 pm ET) Jets linebacker Quinton Coples didn't start for the first time last week and played just 19 snaps, but he expects to return to a bigger role Sunday against the Bills, ESPN.com reports.
"It's back to what it was before Thursday," Coples said after practice Wednesday. "I'll be getting a lot more reps, and back out there a lot more than I was this past Thursday."

When asked if Coples would return to a starting role, coach Rex Ryan said, "Sure, why not?" before adding, "We play our players. We play all our guys."

Coples has recorded just five tackles and one sack in seven games this season.

Bills WR Marcus Easley returns to practice Wednesday

Easley has missed the last four weeks while recovering from a sprained MCL. If he's healthy enough to play Sunday, his presence on special teams could help counter the loss of Anthony Dixon on the unit, as he's expected to fill a much bigger offensive role in the wake of multiple injuries to the team's running backs.

Cordarrelle Patterson no longer on injury report

49ers WR Steve Johnson making most of limited snaps

(5:30 pm ET) 49ers wideout Steve Johnson has played 31 percent of the team's offensive snaps, yet he ranks third on the team in catches (25) and receiving yards (315) and is tied for the team lead with three touchdown grabs, notes the San Francisco Chronicle. Colin Kaepernick has a sterling 127.8 passer rating when targeting Johnson, completing 25 of 31 throws, the report said.
Despite his success, Johnson might have a hard time earning more time because Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin are locked in as starters and Brandon Lloyd is a deep threat coaches want to get on the field, the paper said.

For now, the paper envisions Johnson continuing to split No. 3 receiver duties with Lloyd, who has played 38 percent of the snaps.

It would be a big blow to the Bears if they don't have Fuller, who's made 33 tackles and three interceptions in seven games.
Coach Marc Trestman has said Fuller does not need surgery and could play with a broken hand.

Saints RB Khiry Robinson held out Wednesday
