Texas Health Resources system has new COO

Jeffrey Canose is the new chief operating officer of the Texas Health Resources system, effective Sept. 1.

Canose came to the company in January 2006, when he became chief operating officer of the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Most recently, he was executive vice president and operations leader for the system’s southwest zone, covering six counties.

In the new role, Canose will oversee the operational and clinical duties of the health system.

 

Gold Mine Barbecue shuts its doors

Gold Mine Barbecue, located off the Square on West Hickory Street, closed its doors on Tuesday.

A farewell post on the restaurant’s Facebook page said increased food costs, poor traffic flow and its inability to obtain a beer/wine permit were hurting business.

The company will continue to sell its homemade sauces online, and the owners are working to set up online payment.

 

Last Drop Tavern closes

Last Drop Tavern shut down on Aug. 31, according to the pizza joint and pub’s Facebook page.

The tavern opened in April 2013 in the Denton Plaza shopping center, at 508 S. Elm St.

In an online posting, business owners said they couldn’t negotiate the best terms for operation, and hope to reopen eventually closer to the downtown Square.
