A little perspective, please

Re: “Parents, kids not thrilled with redrawing of lines — Chief acknowledges difficult process with 4 new schools in 2015,” Wednesday Metro story.

Oh my gosh! They are kidding, right? New school zoning in Frisco will cause ruined lives?

What I believe it might really cause is more resilient young people who realize they are not the center of the universe.

My father was in the military. I went to three schools in the fifth grade.

My husband was in the military. My kids went to school on two different continents.

I taught young people at overseas schools for military families for 18 years. You will never meet a group of more adaptable, self-reliant and tolerant young people.

Instead of “friendships torn apart,” it is the opportunity to have more friends.

From my perspective, I can certainly sympathize with students and families. Few people like change.

But look at the positives as stated by student Kylie Keeling. (You go, girl!) No overcrowded classrooms or cafeterias. Easier parking.

Bottom line: Frisco, it is inevitable. Quit waah, waahing and get over it!
