Gymnastics: Gymnasts earn honors at meet

Two members of Achievers Gymnastics earned three state titles in the Level 6 division, while four members in the Level 7 division qualified for the USA Gymnastic Regionals during competition at the USA Gymnastics state meet in Houston.

Peyton Thompson of Keller earned state titles on the balance beam and floor exercises, while Allison Oropeza of Highland Village claimed the state crown in the uneven bars in the Level 6 division. Thompson scored a 9.525 on the balance beam in the Senior C1 division and scored a 9.275 in the floor exercise. Oropeza recorded a 9.45 score on the uneven bars in the Senior D1 division.

Carsyn Phillips, Katie Dooley and Samantha Goodrick, all of Denton, and Nadia Hernandez of Keller qualified for regionals with their finishes in the Level 7 competition. Phillips was fifth on the balanced bean, seventh of the uneven bars and 13th in the all-around in the 11-year-old age group. Dooley was 13th on the balance beam and 18th in the all-around, while Goodrick was fourth in the vault.

Hernandez was seventh in floor exercises and 14th on the balance beam iu the 12-year-old division.
