THE COLONY — Riley Wood, a soon-to-be eighth-grader at Harpool Middle School, posted a personal-best time of 2:09.40 in the 800-meter run on Saturday to capture the TAAF Region 4 championship.

Wood, running for the IBTT Track Team, now ranks 18th on the USATF Junior National list with his time. The victory earns Wood a berth in the TAAF state meet in early August in College Station.

Wood will be competing this weekend in the USATF National Junior Olympics in Humble.
