Although we have no idea when the Red Hot Chili Peppers will release their forthcoming album, Flea has confirmed they’re writing some pretty funky stuff.
The bassist has told Rolling Stone that the band is nearly finished writing and the new music is “super danceable, funky s**t and some real introspective, pretty stuff.”

According to Flea, the band has written nearly 30 songs – far more material than they intend lay down on the album, but that’s the norm for the Los Angeles foursome.
He told RS that he hopes to be touring the new album within a year.
“We’re nearly finished writing,” he said. “We’ll go in the studio sometime in the next couple of months.”
The new album will be the second for guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who official joined the band in 2009 just prior to recording the album I’m With You, released in 2011. He replaced longtime guitarist John Frusciante, who left the band and has since forged a solo career.
