Balfour Beatty CEO Mark Layman gives up financial career for construction

Think of an iconic building in North Texas and chances are Balfour Beatty Construction's fingerprints are on it.

This is a great source of pride for Mark Layman, who took over as chairman and CEO in January but has been with the Dallas-based firm since 1989. The 49-year-old Richardson native actually started his business career in finance but got talked into joining a predecessor of Balfour Beatty.
