Don't call it a peace offering: Blue, the Misfit has a brand-new track, "Wild," with Sam Lao

It's good to be Blue these days. Blue, the Misfit, that is. Perhaps the hottest rapper in North Texas right now, the MC and producer otherwise known as Brandon Blue has been having a big year in 2014, starting with a buzzed-about Kendrick Lamar collaboration ("Drugs on the Schoolyard") and following it up with his first full-length record, Child in the Wild, which earned the Dallas Observer's Best Local Music Release honors in last month's Best Of Dallas issue.

In a gesture of appreciation to the fans and supporters who lauded Child in the Wild, which has also earned Blue five nominations in the upcoming Dallas Observer Music Awards he now gives us the Sam Lao-assisted "Wild," which drops exclusively here on DC9 at Night.

Originally a consummation of his debut album's collective theme, "Wild" takes Blue's characteristic crystal-clear and eloquent flow to paint a hedonistic portrait of self-celebration. But it's not all Blue here this time. Just as he drew on several collaborations on Child, he shares production duties on "Wild" with his cohort X, the Misfit and shares the mic with the razor-sharp rhymes and musings of Sam Lao. After all, what's a little self-celebration without some friends to join in the party?

Following a series of impressive performances including rapper -topic's Three Links Pop-Up, Index Fest, Oaktopia and Red Bull Sound Select with Isaiah Rashad, Blue looks set to keep building on his momentum well into the fall, including appearances at both Fun Fun Fun Fest in November and the Austin festival's late-night afterparty. He even finds time to perform and record as his beats alter ego, War Club.

If you want to keep up with it all, subscribe to his Soundcloud, find him on Spotify and bluethemisfit.com for all things fandom.
