Oleta Wittenmyer, 94, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Broadway Baptist Church where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday in Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton.

Should friends desire, memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the Library at Broadway Baptist Church.

Mary Oleta Hamilton Wittenmyer was born June 30, 1920, in Bowie, daughter of the late Pryor A. and Bess E. Worley Hamilton. She received her B.A. in library science from North Texas State University and her M.S. in library science from Texas Woman's University. She served as a librarian at North Texas State, humanities librarian at Northeast Louisiana State University in Monroe, LA, and serials and special collections librarian at TCU before her retirement in the late 1980s. After her retirement from TCU, she volunteered on the library staff at Broadway Baptist Church where she was a longtime member.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Woodrow Wittenmyer.

She is survived by her son, Eugene L. Wittenmyer and wife, Margaret; grandchildren, Jeffrey Wittenmyer, Brian Wittenmyer and wife, Ghazala, and Leslie Wittenmyer; and great-grandson, Taha Wittenmyer.
