DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) – Mike Ditka’s opinions are honest and straight to the point. They’re also validated by his legendary status as a player and coach.

So when he speaks, listen up.

Ditka joined Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan Wednesday to provide his thoughts on the 6-1 Cowboys.

“They’re playing as a team for one thing. There’s not much selfishness,” said Ditka. “They’re doing all the little things that sometimes people think aren’t so glamorous, and they’re getting good results.”

Ditka believes Romo doesn’t get the credit he deserves, Murray is “terrific”, the offensive line is solid, and the defense is playing well. So all that adds up to…

“Who is better than them? You look around the league, and who is better than them overall? I don’t see anybody in the league right now that is playing better than the Cowboys.”

Wait, just to clarify. Do you think the Cowboys are capable of winning the Super Bowl?

“It doesn’t matter what I think, it matters what they think. I think they can, yes. But that’s up to them”

From one TE to another

Mike Ditka was the first tight end to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Jason Witten is well on his way to joining him in Canton.

“[Jason Witten] is the real deal. He’s just a really solid football player. I don’t think he gets nearly the credit he deserves. He is really a very solid football player in every area. He blocks well, a good receiver. He’s probably not the deep threat that he was five or six years ago, but you still have to account for him on every play.”
