Construction for the FM423/Main Street expansion began Monday.
The project, expected to last 36 months, will widen the road to eight lanes north of Sam Rayburn Tollway to Cougar Alley/Ridgepointe Drive and to six lanes north of Cougar Alley/ Ridgepointe to U.S. Highway 380.
The project includes auxiliary left-and right-turn lanes at each major intersection and a traffic signal at Lake Highlands Drive.
Motorists should seek alternate routes where possible and prepare for delays. Two lanes of traffic will be open in both directions during peak hours and weekends.
