‘The Voice’ Enlists Pharrell for Season 7
By Courtney E. Smith
That seat that CeeLo left vacant on The Voice just got filled for season 7, by Pharrell. The show sent out a little Snapchat teaser earlier today, followed by an official announcement on Twitter at 3:00 p.m. ET.
CeeLo announced he would be leaving the show for good after season 6 back in February but that he would also continue his relationship with NBC by working on a sitcom for the network.
Usher filled in on CeeLo’s chair for a season previously, but Pharrell is stepping in to keep it warm — at least for season 7.
Pharrell got some additional good news last week, when his track “Happy” broke Mediabase records by reaching a new high of 264.9 million in audience on radio last week. The track sits atop the charts at No. 1 on airplay for Top 40, Rhythmic, Urban AC and Hot AC radio formats.
Okay, we can OFFICIALLY say it! WE ARE SO #HAPPY to announce PHARRELL WILLIAMS = #NewVoiceCoach for SEASON 7. http://t.co/GayqbMeU1l
