Fans of a new William Glen store will have to wait a little longer for its grand opening, but the store is still opening this week.

While the owners initially expected to open today, the grand opening will now take place Thursday. The location will be open 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily, according to a news release.

The store is at 2310 Fair Oaks Blvd., in the former Fish Emporium building across from Sacramento's Pavilions shopping center. It's co-owned by siblings Amy Guthrie and Mark Snyder.

The new location will be permanent, as opposed to the temporary stores the siblings have operated in the past. Customers can expect housewares, collectibles and gift items.

The siblings' father, Bill Snyder, co-founded the original William Glen store. William Glen operated at Town & Country Village shopping center in the Arden-Arcade area from 1963 until the business closed in 2010, about a year after their father's death.

At 4,110 square feet, the new store is smaller than the William Glen location that for nearly 50 years filled a now-demolished 18,000-square-foot space on the corner of Fulton and Marconi.

Snyder and Guthrie have operated two stores in Old Sacramento since 2010: Christmas & Co. and Chef's Mercantile. In 2013, the siblings reclaimed the name of the home goods and gift retailer, changing their corporate name from C & C Merchants to William Glen Inc.
