A Roseville charter school has purchased its existing campus, and is moving forward with plans to open a second location.

Officials from John Adams Academy completed the purchase of their campus at 1 Sierra Gate Plaza, which serves 900 students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The school signed a 10-year lease for the 51,000-square-foot space in 2011, when the campus opened.

"By exercising our option to purchase the Roseville campus, we are not only enhancing the school's financial position, we are also creating an opportunity to accommodate more scholars and provide even greater support to our teachers as they inspire scholars with a traditional model of education passed down to us by the Greeks, Romans and Founding Fathers of our country," Dean Forman, the school's founder, said in a news release.

Meanwhile, the academy still plans to build a second campus on a nearly 20-acre site near the corner of Highway 193 and Oak Tree Avenue in Lincoln. School district officials have approved the plan, and the proposed campus is expected to open in the 2015-2016 school year.

The existing campus has a waiting list of more than 500 students, according to the school.
