Briefly:
- Val Nichushkin, who has missed four games with groin and hip soreness, has skated the past two days and could return to practice Wednesday, Ruff said. “If things go well, maybe he can participate in part of our practice, maybe in a non-contact sense or even just the shooting part,” Ruff said.

- Sergei Gonchar has not played in a game yet because of an ankle injury suffered during the preseason. However, he skated Monday and is progressing. Ruff said Gonchar will probably skate on his own Wednesday.

- Stars forward Shawn Horcoff collected his 300th career assist Tuesday.
