ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – In some ways, it seems like the Rams just arrived in town, but this is now their 20th season in St. Louis.

Now the question is, is it their last?

Rumors continue to grow that the team may be on its way back west as soon as February, fueled by reports that Rams owner Stan Kroenke has purchased a large chunk of land near Los Angeles.

Amy Trask was CEO for the Oakland Raiders before joining the CBS Sports Network, and she’s amazed it’s taken this long for the NFL to try and fill the void in the nation’s second largest market.

“I would’ve looked at you as if you were a bit nutty,” Trask says. “It would never have occurred to me 20 years ago that it would’ve taken two decades to fill this market with a new team or teams.”

She’s very familiar with a plot of land that Kroenke has purchased in L.A.

“That land is spectacular land for a stadium,” Trask says. “While I was with the Raiders, we looked very, very seriously at that land, before Al Davis ultimately made the decision to relocate to Oakland.”

Trask reminds St. Louis fans that any move back to L.A. would still need the approval of the league’s front office and 75 percent of the other NFL team owners.

The NFL is pushing to have at least one and possibly two current franchises relocate to L.A., with the Rams, Raiders and Chargers at the top of the list.
