Comments () A Text Size

As Denton fire officials approached a single-story home Monday morning, smoke was clearly visible, officials said.

Kenneth Hedges, spokesman for the Denton Fire Department, said personnel were called to an electrical fire in the 900 block of Congress Street about a fire Monday at 8:42 a.m. and in less than 20 minutes, the fire was under control.

He said the fire was in the proximity of a wall around an electrical breaker panel with an extension into the attic.

An estimated $7,000 in damages to the residence was reported.

Hedges said the residents were in the process of moving to the house but still maintained a lease on an apartment, so they were not displaced.

There were no injuries and all units cleared the residence at 10:53 a.m., officials said.
