Blotter: Woman reports finding syringe in bag on door

A bag hanging from a Denton woman’s front door left a nasty surprise — one that could lead to charges.

On Saturday evening, the 39-year-old woman received a text message from someone she knew who stated that he’d left a package for her on her front door, she told police.

According to a police report, when she reached inside the bag, she felt something prick her finger. When she looked inside the bag, she found an uncapped syringe and called police.

Officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of Interstate 35E, according to the report, in reference to suspicious activity. The case is pending.

Other reports

400 block of East McKinney Street — A male employee exposed himself to a female co-worker Saturday evening at a restaurant, according to the police report.

An officer was dispatched to take an indecent exposure report, police said.

1900 block of Brinker Road — An unknown suspect picked up a load of shingles at Home Depot early Saturday and failed to pay for the items, according to a police report.

The incident occurred at 3 a.m. when the person loaded shingles valued between $500 and $1,500 into the back of a pickup and drove off, police said.

Officers searched the area but could not locate a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s.

2500 block of Stella Street — Somebody slipped through a front window and trashed a living room Saturday, police said.

The incident occurred between 2 and 6 a.m., according to the 59-year-old victim, who reported that the person broke into the house through a front window, tearing the screen and damaging the blinds. They proceeded to break her daughter’s cellphone and a television, she reported.
