Blotter: Mother’s intervention prevents theft

A Denton mother’s intervention prevented some domestic thievery Sunday afternoon.

Police officers were called to a home in the 1500 block of Knight Street about an assault that had just occurred.

The victim reported that her ex-boyfriend ran into her house without being invited and grabbed her by the throat and pushed her down. He then attempted to take some items from the residence, according to a police report. However, he was interrupted by the victim’s mother.

He then fled the scene. Officers searched areas where the victim suggested the suspect might flee, but at the time of the report he had not been located.

3300 block of Hudsonwood Drive — Denton officers were dispatched to an apartment complex regarding a disturbance. Police learned there had been a physical confrontation between two residents and an acquaintance of theirs.

After an investigation, police determined that the two residents of the apartment were the aggressors in the confrontation, according to a police report. The two suspects were arrested on charges of assault causing bodily injury and transported to the Denton city jail.

3000 block of North Locust Street — A woman reported that she had purchased a pet through an Internet site and has not received the pet.

From 7 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday:

Denton County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers handled 1,914 service and officer-initiated calls for the agencies they serve, and 103 people were booked into Denton County Jail.

Denton police handled 826 service and officer-initiated calls and posted 47 reports online.

Denton firefighters responded to 59 medical calls, three vehicle accidents with injuries, two vehicle accidents with no injuries, a good-intent call, six unintentional alarms, a trash fire, a service call and a chemical leak and assisted six invalids.
