Arizona's first legal ride-sharing program launched recently through taxi company Total Transit, reports KPHO-TV.
Glendale-based Total Transit, the parent company of Discount Cab, now offers a mobile app-based ride-sharing program. The cost for the service is lower than a traditional taxi but slightly more than Uber and Lyft.
The reason is thatTotal Transit's service abides by Arizona law: Drivers have commercial license plates on their vehicles, carry commercial auto insurance and are licensed by the state's Department of Weights and Measures.
