Consumer prices across the U.S. barely registered any movement last month as energy costs kept inflation at bay, CNBC reports.

The U.S. Labor Department said today the Consumer Price Index rose 0.1 percent in September after a 0.2 percent decline in August.

Inflation has waned in recent months after increasing in the second quarter. Much of the reason has to do with a strengthening dollar combined with slower economic growth in China and Europe put a damper on imported price pressures.
