After losing three straight matches, the Mean Green was able to get a win on the road against Louisiana Tech University in straight sets on Sunday (25-14, 30-28, and 25-21).

North Texas was able to jump out to a 14-4 lead early in the first set and rode the momentum to start the match with a dominating set victory.

“Anytime you can win on the road it’s a good win and a confidence booster,” head coach Andrew Palileo said. “It allows you to go into the next week of practice feeling a little bit better about your team and is definitely a big confidence builder.”

The second set was a different story as the Lady Techsters fought hard as both teams went back and forth with no team lead exceeding four points.

Three players recorded double digit kills in the three set match including junior outside hitter Carnae Dillard , senior outside hitter Hanna Forst  and freshman middle blocker Holly Milam.

“Our work in practice has been centered around the middles being available,” freshman middle blocker Amanda Chamberlain said. “Coach really wants us to be ready for the transitions and be ready to make a play off the net. That really helped us tonight in being prepared for their attacks.”

The third set was filled with sloppy play as the Mean Green recorded six errors while only having five in the first two sets combined, but were still able to close out the match thanks to a 9-3 run towards the end of the set.

“I think it helps us a lot,” Dillard said. “Before tonight we had only had one road win so we really wanted to get the job tonight in order to build confidence for the upcoming matches this weekend and for the rest of conference play.”

The Mean Green will be back in action at home at  7 p.m. Friday Oct. 24 against Florida Atlantic University.
